Doctors in Rivers State embark on 3-day warning strike

Doctors In Rivers State Have Commenced A Three-Day Warning Strike With Effect From Today.State Chairman Of The Nigerian Medical Association, Furo Green Made The Announcement While Briefing Newsmen In Port Harcourt.Green Said The Warning Strike Which Will Elapse On Sunday Is In Protest Of Their Kidnapped Colleagues Aprioku And Isaac Opurum Who Were Abducted Earlier This Week.He Said The Warning Strike Will Be Reviewed And A Full Strike Declared If The Abducted Doctors Were Not Released.

The Chairman Also Confirmed The Death Of A Medical Doctor Livy Jamala, After Contracting Lassa Fever From Patients Being Treated For The Virus At Rivers State Owned Braithwaite Memorial Specialist Hospital.Green Said The Deceased Has Been Buried In Accordance With Who Protocols For Victims Of Contagious Diseases, Adding That Over 12 Staff Of The Primary Health Care Centre And About 50 People Who Had Secondary Contact With The Primary Cases Have Been Placed Under Surveillance.
