The current economic and security situations in the country has compelled the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF) to host its competitions in only Lagos and Abuja, an official has said.
NTTF President, Wahid Enitan-Oshodi, told news reporters on Friday in Lagos that the federation was, however, determined to spread its hosting venues across the country.
“The present economic and security situations in the country have hindered the spreading of hosting of competitions across the country.
“While it has not been easy getting people to put their money down, the current security situation is also militating against the even spread of hosting venues.
“The development affects most especially the north, where there are killings by Boko Haram and which has incapacitated the federation in fine-tuning some of its plans of spreading hosting venues”.
Enitan-Oshodi, who doubles as the Lagos State Commissioner for Sports, Youth and Social Development, however, expressed optimism of getting sponsors from other states for more tournaments.
