Fashola Meets Transport Union Leaders on Security at Parks, Road Safety

Lagos Governor, Babatunde Fashola, has met with the leadership of the state branch of the National Union of Road Transport Workers on ways to ensure security at the various motor parks and roads. Also, Fashola has assured that the All Progressives Congress in the state would conduct primaries to choose its flag bearers for various electoral positions.

The Governor, who spoke at the Banquet Hall of the Lagos House, Ikeja said the meeting became necessary because of some developments at the last Security Council meeting.

He said while it is the primary responsibility of government to ensure the protection of life and property, government alone cannot carry it out, as it requires the support of the populace to make the state safe and accident-free for the people is why everybody must be involved in the process.

He, however, said the task would only be halfway done if government performs its task of protecting life and property, while the citizens themselves must be up and doing in terms of securing themselves and their immediate environment.

The meeting was attended by members of the Executive Council including the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Ade Ipaye, Commissioner for Transportation, Kayode Opeifa, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), Tunde Sobulo, Assistant Director of Operations at the Department of State Security (DSS), Chairman of the NURTW, Tajudeen Agbede and leaders of the union.
