Nigeria’s first ever Extreme Sports Course will be launched on Wednesday August 20, 2014, at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere, by the Lagos Commissioner for Youth, Sports and Social Development, Wahid Enitan Oshodi.
The commissioning will precede the inaugural edition of the very innovative MX Games, a brainchild of MediaVision Limited in collaboration with the Lagos State government.
The Chief Executive Officer of MediaVision Limited, Fela Bank-Olemoh, described the up-coming unveiling as the outcome of years of design and planning to put Nigeria on the map of Extreme Sports nations.
“We are obviously impressed with the efforts of the Lagos State Ministry of Youths, Sports and Social Development at creating platforms, especially through sports for youth engagement and the MX Games is coming to complement that effort”, disclosed Bank-Olemoh, whose company is also involved in the organization of Corporate Games.
“It has taking three years and lots of interaction with partners within and outside Nigeria to realize this project and the MX Games is a culmination of these years of design and planning to place Nigeria on the map of Extreme Sports nations”, he further clarified.
Bank-Olemoh said “the MX Games will further engage an increasing number of youths who have gotten passionate about events like Roller-Skating and Skateboarding”.
As part of the unveiling ceremony, an exhibition of a mini MX Games competition will be put on show by some select Extreme Sports athletes. The MX Games Arena is a course that comprises different elements such as half pipes, quarter pipes, Narrow and Wide Speed Bumps, Fun Box, Speed Breakers and High and Low Poles amongst others.
