He said that the TVT is under the purview of the Motor Vehicle Administration Agency (MVAA), and that it is an innovation aimed at procurement of motor vehicles services and drivers services documentation.

“Before the end of the third quarter of this year, we will present to the people of Lagos the first state of the art one-stop-shop for the process and issuance of all Motor Vehicle Administration Agency product, such as drivers’ license, vehicle number plate and other vehicle particulars to the public,” he said.

He further explained that, “Two routes are proposed for implementation and will serve as crucial links to Apapa, Lagos Island, Obalende/Ikoyi and Victoria Island. Detailed design by Ropeways Transport Limited is ongoing while the geotechnical investigation of sites is ongoing as the land acquisition for the project is almost completed.”

Adding to this the Permanent Secretary MVAA, Akin Hanson said the tag would allow the capturing of data of vehicles on the database and served as a link for tracking same in the case of security challenges and that with the TVT, every information about one’s car is already in government’s registration data. He also said the issuance of the tag would commence in three centres.
