GBASKY Releases Sophomore EP – BLACK FREQUENCY
Written by Smooth FM on March 20, 2020
“Black Frequency is an expression of my personality, growth and art as experienced in the last two years” – Says Gbasky.
Weeks after coming through with the single; Money Devotion, he is finally setting us on his frequency with the release of his sophomore project, Black Frequency.
The 8-track project showcases Gbasky exploring the theme of hardwork, money, love, and enjoyment as it relates to the Nigerian youth. Leaning into varying traditional styles of Nigerian music from Highlife to Fuji to Juju and balancing it out with new age sounds.
With the journey starting and expressing the busy, crowded and the economic capital of Africa -Lagos-, Gbasky sings for the hustlers with the opener (Stress) whilst lightening up the mood with a love number for his “Original” female fans.
He creates another number for his hustlers with “Money Devotion” borrowing from the Fuji maestro K1 De Ultimate “Apo shashamura O gberi” and balances it out once more with a soulful love rendition in “Bolanle”.
He enlists the help of the DM records signee King Perryy to deliver a feel good tune for easy living and enjoyment of your hustle whilst reminding you to ensure you do everything legitimate to prosper in “Anyway”.
He doesn’t leave out the flamboyance of enjoying your success as he asks us to “Fun wan Tan” and signs off with a heavy juju/highlife number on “Jeje Laye” Its worthy to note the sonic balance of English, yoruba and pidgin english on this project.
The project features the talent of King Perryy and is produced by West Kulture, P.Priime and DJ Klem with mix and mastering from Gray Jones and Focus Ramon.
Black Frequency is available on all platforms.
